One Month Down, One and a Half to Go.
I don't really know what to say about my work right now. My second painting is starting to come together and I almost love it more than the first. After a lot of consideration on how to handle such an intense image, I've finally gotten a technique down. The background is extremely difficult to render. With lines reaching outward from the center, I have to try and give the illusion of a circular movement. I have to be in 100% control of my brushstrokes. This is difficult, but I had a painting epiphany while working recently. For the shadows and blades on the fan, I smeared a large amount of blue, yellow, and red paint on with a large stiff brush. For the lighter parts that it fades into, I covered a softer brush in white and yellow. I completely zoned out while working and it was ah-maz-ing. I remember now that this is a way I learned to paint with the Pulp Fiction Scene painting. Perhaps I learned something from that after all.
Anyway, the jury date is in November and all I can really do is hope to keep making progress like this.
